Annals of a Road Trip–Portland, Maine

We ventured down Hwy 1 south today from Bar Harbor to Portland.  It was a beautiful drive that included excursions through small coastal towns including Camden and a pit stop in the Outlet Village of Freeport.  We hadn’t seen an outset scene quite like this–cute and unique town with great deals at outlet stores including LL Bean, Gap, Burberry, Rockport and more.

We spent yesterday touring around Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.  We loved both places.  Bar Harbor is a quaint and classic New England town and we enjoyed a seafood lunch, ice cream and some shopping.  It’s clearly a place that has a “busy” season in the summer and the townies appeared to be getting in to the spirit for what awaits as Memorial Day approaches.  The National Park, which is a few minutes away, includes breathtaking views from Cadillac Mountain and a series of coastal lines that, unfortunately, we couldn’t visit in our RV due to the shortness of many of the covered bridges on the path.  We’ll download and post some pics from our day when we can.

We’ll be heading in to Portland tonight and tomorrow AM before heading further south to Boston and then Cape Cod this weekend.  We’re excited about future adventures that await us there.
